i have an xe running throttle bodies and it hasnt run rite since i put it in. the compression is fine, its sparking, and its got fuel. it is over fueling on two cylinders. when i unplug the injector on 1 of the cylinders that is over fuelling it runs fine but when its plugged in the revs pick up 2 3k. two of the manifold pipes are hot but the other two are warm but not red hot. i think the fuel pressure regulator might need adjusting but im unsure of how 2 adjust it properly. any help would be great. which end of the fuel rail does the feed go to and does the fuel pressure reg go on the supply end or the return end.

fuel system goes:
tank-filter-fuel rail- regulator-fuel return.
there is no real way to set a fuel pressure regulator, depends what the map in the ecu is set to really. unless you have the software and a laptop to set the tps and injector duration then you are a bit stuffed
have you balanced the throttles correctly? if two of the butterflies are shut then no air will get in to atomise the fuel and cause detonation.... this could be a cause for the temps on the inlet etc..

what do u mean by balance them? they have a linkage that connects the two sets 2gether i thought that was all they would need to actually make them open at the same time. i dont think the map is wrong coz the kid i got it off said it ran fine

the throttles need to be perfectly balanced i.e the same amount of air passing by each butterfly, believe it or not literally 0.5mm difference can make a big difference! without them balanced it will run rich on some cylinders (too far closed) or lean on others (too far open). this also has a bearing on the tps. the tps (throttle position sensor) must be exact to run the engine properly, if it thinks the throttles are further open than they actually are then it will run rich and vice versa. to set the tps it neds to be done using a laptop and the relevant software. in a 2cm sweep of the tps it has over 100 load sites. if they are 1 out it will cause problems.
the map may be correct but the tps and throttle balance need to be spot-on before anything will work right.

the tps isnt set up its just loose and when it runs iv moved it till it runs better. there is only 1 adjustable screw to adjust the throttle position at idle

it will never run right without the tps set.
what type of tb's are they? any pics? each body should be individually adjustable of if they are dual bodies like jenveys then they have individual idle bleed screws and butterfly adjusters

they r jenvey 1ns. u mean by individual adjusters the 10mm nuts on top with allen key headed threads? on a normal valver the tps can be set up with a multimeter

yes, the allen key grub screws with the 8 or 10mm nuts to tighten them. they adjust the balance. you can tune the balance using a vaccum gauge or a gunsons carbalancer (£10 from halfrauds). impossible without the tps set tho. what ecu are you using?

that shows how exact the tps needs to be.

place it over the trumpet and it measures the vaccum drawn past the butterfly. the further open it is, the more vaccum.
