Hi Guys,
Went down to Blackpool yesterday night (80 miles) to see Little Britain Live (Brilliant), no problems on the way there but when I came back to the car it wouldn't start. All the lights are lit on the dashboard as normal but when you turn the key nothing happens. I got it going by bump starting it and it ran fine all the way home. When I got home I tried to start it with the key again and nothing. Bump started it again ok. Any thoughts? Its a R Reg Corsa 1.4 Sport.
One other thing as well, when the car is running, if you turn the key it doesn't do the normal grinding as it would normally.
Any thoughts?
Cheers.

Its not even trying to start though. As if the battery is disconnected. I'm thinking bad earth? Where are the earth straps on the engine?

there has to be a problem with the starter motor or its connections, as that is what 'grinds' if you turn the key after the engine is started. So either the starter motor itself is broken, or the wiring to it somewhere is damaged or loose. It could be a bad earth, or a problem with the wiring from the battery or ignition I think.

As Tom said, could be the starter motor.

Battery is fine as all lights are on / electrics are ok. The lights don't dim when I try and start it. How can I get to the starter motor? Best from underneath? Also, I had a similar problem to this on my Nova and it turned out to be the earth cable going from the gearbox to the chassis had snapped. Is there one in the same place on a Corsa?
