Have just rebuilt the engine on my GFs corsa am putting it back in tonight and just wondered. I ripped the engine out and left the box in should I
a)Try and larry the engine back in with the box in place
or
b)Be belt and braces and drop the box out assemble off the car and put it back in

drop the box, bolt engine and box together then back in... is it an early or late model, does it have PAS ? if it is later then you can go in from the top

Its a N plate 96 no PAS do you not reckon i'll get it back in with the box in place then?

Yea thats what I was thinking its only an extra hours work to drop the box might still have a go though if it came out that way it'll go back in!!!!!!!!!!

box and engine together.... lift if it from the bottom using an engine crane

leave the box in place mate!!! very easy if you have a hoist. me and my mate done my c16xe conversion with the box left in place, didnt even use a hoist, the only pain is getting the input shaft from the box into the clutch. it will save you alot of time rather than getting the shafts out, undoing th elinkage and mounts ect ect. trust me leave it in, drop the engine in from the top....
