no real way to speed it up, just look for downloads which have a good amount of seeders or more seeders than leechers
but then again, alot of people set there upload limits to 0.1k/s at times, so its why its shit...

Make sure youve set your upload at a sensible level. Too high can also reduce your download speeds

make sure you have the right ports set up aswel otherwise people wont be able to seed from you, bit torrents are slow anyway and if your on a wireless connection itl slower, plus they rape your internet
