Neighbor is goign to let me borrow compressor and gun etc to spray spoiler and bumpers on my car. What's the crack with painting metallic colours? Is it harder?

He also asked me about 2 pack paint? This is what I would be needing to buy yes? Can anybody enlighten me?

you can DIY it and still make a good job of it, metalics are harder to spray because they are very easy to get looking patchy. 2k (2pack) paints would be the best for the job but there not the easiest paints to get hold of atm due to them being banned at the end of the year. if your going to attempt it your self, your best speaking to IAZ for some friendly advice as he does some top notch work!
