For simplicity, cheapness and reliability, a redtop is better.

Yes...

A standard 2 litre has less to go wrong than a tuned 1.6

depends on the engine, who fitted it etc... everyone I know with a 2 litre corsa is always having problems. a properly set-up 1.6 on tb's is far more reliable and has much less to go wrong with it.

P.s ive owned both a 2 litre corsa and a 1.6 on tb's. I know.

Fair enough you have first hand experience of both whereas I only know about the redtop...

What do you think is guna be more reliable, a tuned 1.6 putting out more power than it was designed to from the factory or a 2 litre that is putting out factory power?

yeh the 1.6 are more reliable becuze their more design around a corsa wheather the 2 litre isnt bt its only if you want more power then the 2 litre is the beta option :D

it comes down to the condition of the engine. if its a good 2 litre, low miles or rebuilt properly and converted into a corsa properly then it will be reliable.

engines on tb's are very reliable if set up properly. mainly becase everything is manually adjustable and only a few sensors are used. f something goes wrong just plug in a laptop (aftermarket management must be used with tb's) and it will tell you what is wrong. My tb's have been on for 1 year now and the only problem I had was a headgasket blowing. my fault anyway as I had used chep jubilee clips on one of the waterpipes that corroded and split.

ok, the 1.6 will cost a lot more in the end but theres no comparison when it comes to the fun factor. a tuned 1.6 wins everytime.

a 1.6 on tb's is quicker than a standard 2 litre corsa.

It's not fair to compare standard to modded engines though, is it?

Whack some TB's on a redtop and see what wins then
