definately pioneer - sony are rubbish for car audio - I had a sony and it was ok at low volumes but when you turn it up the quality is shocking

at lower end you wont notice much difference TBH. Only in bigger instals or at higher volumes will you notice a difference in SQ.
out of those two id go for SONY. Their new stuff is improving loads. Not rivaling the big guns yet, but a defo improvement.

this is why i say there stuff is improving. i bet in a budget install, hardly any of you could tell the difference between SONY and Alpine

My Dad had a Sony head unit in his old Golf, cd's were fine but radio reception was terrible. I know others that have said the same. My Alpine has both good cd and clear radio reception.

how old is the SONY HU? im just trying to give them a chance to be fair mate. there stuff is improving, but will never rival big guns. rockford, alpine, pioneer, nakimich etc etc

Sony was 1997, so they may have improved. My Alpine was bought in 2003.

ive got an x plod hu cus i got it cheap and its been fine its lasted nearly three years never had a problemwith it.
