day insurance on a car, how does this work?

i may need to use my brothers car if mine isnt fixed and so will be looking at getting day insurance on it.
can i just arrange with any company to get insurance on his car, even though it is in his name? or will i have to go with his company and get them to insure me for the day that i will be using it.

i used a site i was linked to and got a quote of £10.51 for the day but this is not with a comapny that my brothers car is insured with. would it just be that i went ahead and made payment to this company and they insure me on the car for he day

any help appreciated, but i hope my car is fixed in time

thanks
Marc

Edit - TPFT insurance

If you're fully comp on your car, surely you can drive your bro's car third party (with his permission)?

Evenif you are fully comp these days and under 24, your insurance wont cover you to drive another car.
