Also make sure it meets the following criteria Friend of mine had stick on plates on his scooby and it was missing some of the stuff below
My plates are missing the first 3 things to but because they aren't stick on it doesn't attract there attention and to be honest it is very picky anyway...

so basically its illegal to have pressed metal plates, even if their the right colours?

No, they just have to be at an angle thats readable.
