right... im buying the astra in the pic below at the weekend, and it needs the splitter repairing or replacing.... now should i 1) take it to a bodyshop and get ripped off 2) DIY - fibreglass both sides of the crack in the splitter, sand it down, filler over it, rub the scuff on the splitter smooth and respray the splitter with good old rattle cans (its only a splitter after all.... or 3) buy a new one... so we'd be talking £140 + getting it sprayed?

all depends how confident you are with FG, filler, Spray tbh mate. Personally i would have a go at DIYing it - you've got nothing to lose if you might need to buy a new one anyway

ive done plenty before DIY... with mixed results (due to money mostly) but a splitter wont take much fibreglass or filler+paint for that matter, its just getting silver paint that will at least Nearly match the astras paint

people on here seem to be really ripping apart kitted cars ATM but tbh I like most kitted corsas as long as they are done well and well maintained/cleaned etc.

Its when I see cars with the bumpers hanging off and damaged mesh etc that i start to go off them

You will need to plastic weld that back together. Covering it in fibreglass won't do too mcuh good as it doesn't stick too well to plastic so isn't an ideal way to repair that kind of thing. After than you can sand and fill as per normal.

As for painting it. You will need to paint the whole of that side of the bumper to get the colour blended in, not something I would recomend. If you don't mind the colour being slightly out, as it is only a splitter, then you could get away with painting thust the splitter, it shouldn't be too noticable.
