ok....my car doesn't rev past 5k. when it reaches there its almost like a rev limiter or sounds like a misfire and its the same whether its moving or just revving it stationary.
Car info:
C20xe on twin carbs
Distributor from an old astra
So it has no ECU, no sensors AND the carbs have been jetted...
*Update: Changed the whole ignition system for a better design one. Still hasn't solved the problem!!
Ideas please

I had this problem on my golf
The crank pulley may be out by a tooth.
Remember one revolution on the crank pulley is half on the cams

Whats the best way to check this?
Do I just find tdc (using a tool to find when the piston is at the top) then make sure the cam pulleys are alined?
Because, according to the factory marks its all ok...

use the factory marks as vaux marks are about 20 degrees out from TDC
