Nothing wrong with credit cards IMO... i have 2... one with a 6 and a half grand limit... never go anywhere near 1000 though and it gets cleared every month without fail... good for building credit score, plus i get some good deals on travel insurance etc and, god forbid something really bad happened, like I was away from home and the car had an episode down south or something..

oh and it comes in handy when wankered in the local casino

I had one, never used it in 3 years so cut it up

I prefer to only buy things if I have the money for it, if I dont then I dont get simple as that.

People say its fine so long as you can pay it back at the end of the month when your paid blahda blahda....but then your becoming depandant on your income too much & what happens if you need that for something else!! Its pretty scary how much debt people can accumulate in a short time just by going mental at the shops / on their cars!! I save then use switch.....pay it all off & I can say its mine

in its simplest form, open up a high interest savings account or perhaps an ISA. (anything with higher returns in interest).

Take out a new credit card offering 0% interest for 6 or 9 months (Capital are offering 0% until Jan 2008). Do a cash transfer from your credit card to your savings account. Before your interest free period runs out take out another card.

Pay off the balance of the outstanding card so you don't incur any interest charges.

Rinse and repeat.

I've never done it, nor would I recommend it to be honest, seems like a lot of hassle for not a lot of gain.

Quite easy to do really, but you get next to nothing for doing it. If you managed to blag £2k interest free for 12 months, you'd only make about £80

Tell me about it Jambonelli.

That said, they can be complete lifesavers. If I hadn't had an empty credit card in June, I couldn't have paid my fine or covered the cost of my car insurance.

It's gonna take me about two years to pay it all off though.

if you can afford to pay your credit card off at the end of the month. Then why not wait until the end of the month in the first place?
