I need some programming doing and wondered if anyone on here could help? Im unsure what language it is but will give you some idea of what it'll include...
I basically need this programme modifying and adding to. This will include changing the look to be more user-friendly, adding a few more monitoring features for different sensors I have, and a few other things.
The programme is basically an aquarium monitoring programme. It uses external sensors to measure and log things like pH levels, temp, etc. and display these logs in graphical form. It will also control certain devices (such as the lights or pump) probably via X-10.
If this is something you might be able to help with then get in contact and I can talk you through it some more and agree on a price

Do you have access to the source code for the software?

not sure, but readin this off their site Id say maybe
# Open Modular Design; Everything is controlled via plug-ins, open to anyone to write/modify plug-ins via COM.
# Modular design makes it easy to change, and adapt to new hardware devices.

From what I can see it uses a combination of Pascal and COM Objects. they are pretty specialist areas, anyone with the skills would charge a fortune i'd imagine

To monitor all my tanks, but had a fair few people express an interest in a whole system if I can get one together. So was intending on putting together a hundred or so systems and selling them off. If that goes well then sell the system designs to a few companies

so you want to pay someone pittance then sell the software on as your own?
Would the developer get any royalties from this?

didnt say I wanted to pay a pittance....although would prefer that. But yeah just as you'd pay someone to design something and then you own the copyright and do as you wish with it. Or get someone to produce computers that you sell on, etc. Its the way the world works
So are you telling me the people who work writing programmes all day everyday for companies own any of the software?! Or get royalties after they have been paid for the job.

If I was going to undertake such a project I would want a fee and percentage of any future sales.
