My home server has a number of disks of different sizes on different
interfaces as follows....

Disk1 250GB PCI ATA Primary Channel Master
Disk2 250GB PCI ATA Primary Channel Slave
Disk3 300GB PCI SATA Channel
Disk4 300GB PCI SATA Channel

I am shortly looking to add another couple of drives

Disk5 250GB PCI ATA Secondary Channel Master
Disk6 250GB PCI ATA Secondary Channel Slave

Note all these discs are for storage, the OS is installed into a drive
attached to the motherboard controller. Due to having such a large amount of
data I am looking at the easiest short term solution for RAID storage. Due
to having various interface formats I do not believe it would be possible to
hardware raid them (I expect I would need all IDE or SATA and a expensive
controller) so I am looking at using XPs Software Raid solution as mentioned
in various places such as TomsHardware. I understand about how to create a
RAID5 storage etc but the one area I am not 100% on is once I have the first
4 discs in RAID5 giving 750GB of storage (250GB partitions on the 300GB
discs) is it possible just 'bolt' on the extra 2 discs?
