spent the last couple of days (out of hours) tidying up our network cabinet since we just added a server... (excuse the poor quality photos)

BEFORE



HALF WAY THROUGH


FINISHED



Red = Computers
Yellow = Telephony

Its not a gigabit network through and though. Gigabit between netgear switches.
Ive been advised to get 2x linksys gigabit switches. would we notice the difference on the network? it seems quick as it is.

We've got Eight cabinets - about twice the size of that, used to have yellow for data, and blue for phones. On IP telephony now so a bit tidier.

Still a cunt to find the port you're after when something needs patching

they was like the last cabinet before we added the server.

Because we needed to migrate new users to the server one at a time, without downtime to everyone, we had to keep two seperate networks... hence all the cabling at the front.

Thats nothing i had to do a whole rooms worth, in a day 300 pcs and 250 phone lines was mental, yours loks tidy now though

3 pcs, 2raqs, 2 laptops (wireless), 1 linkstation (NAS) 2 network printers, 1 xbox360 and a PS2 not forgetting the 2 squeez boxes

Thats what i would have liked to have done, but the walls are already in now, and i dont want to rip them down to run wires through the house again :-s

not really, deal with anything I.T related for the company, whether it be tech support, hardware problems, software problems, network, wiring etc etc.
my job title is electrical design engineer

My network is slightly different but goes without saying that cabling is a nightmare for me too

Take a look at this,
This is after is supposed to have been tidied up a bit, i dont have the inclination or the time to completely redo it. Trust me its a nightmare to repatch them or find faults.
