Say I wanted to "own" a website at this address (all hypothetical)
www.corsalad.co.uk
When enetered into the address bar nothing loads up and the page cannot be displayed. How do you register this address in order to build a website? I know sometimes they come up preregistered but for ones like this what do you do?
Thanking you

they wont be able to you as its registered to you, they will have to contact you to ask if you want to sell it. Bit like a personal numberplate

you buy it for 2 years normally, then you get the chance to re-register it before anyone else so you can keep hold of it for aslong as you keep paying.

.co.uk you usually renew every 2 years
.com/.net/.org you renew every year and cost around 80% more than .co.uk
i use 1and1.com for my domain, 4 quid for a .co.uk for 2 years, cant really grumble and never had problems.
Hosting is a complete rip with 1and1 (know plenty of people having problems) so i use a 3rd party company - again, choosing the right hosting company is more of the problem tbh I recommend i-websolutions, mainly because the servers are uk hosted so quick access times
