Got my tyres changed today. When the guy took out one of the wheel bolts, it was stripped . Tryed to rethread it with another bolt, but with no luck, it just wouldnt go in. Is the only way to sort this either to retap the thread (in situ). Or to buy another hub?

You ought to be able to use a helicoil in there, otherwise it's time for a new hub. Re-tapping a thread with another bolt? What an idiot.

. surly if its not too badly damaged then a helicoil wont be neccissary? Iv left the bolt out for the time being.
Ed the reason i tryed it with another bolt was because, the guy who changed the tyre, threaded one of the other bolts into the damagd hole and it seemed to go in fine

Its a standard hub mate, and there's a engineering place jus down the road. But thanks for the offer. How hard is it to change a hub?

Don't do that if you are asking those questions. You need to have the exact correct pitch on the thread as well as the size otherwise the bolts going to fall off. Also, re-tapping air is not going to do much as the threads been stripped.
Go get it helicoiled. It will not cost a lot.
