it didnt rallet when i bought it but its begun to and it driping oil from the sump and the gear box

You have an oil leak, the engine is low on oil, the chain has started rattling as it is'nt getting enough lubrication. Thats my guess, 1.0 12v or 1.2 16v?
Also this should be in the Help zone section mate.

sorry about the rong section i havent got to grips with the site yet
its only started to move in and out of garge at min it not to bad when it worms up. the leak isent to bad its not leaking at the min it only leaks after its bin runing for abit

Have you checked the oil, it will probably be low thats why the chain is rattling, What engine is it? The leak will either be the rear main seal or sump gasket. Get the oil checked soon though.

so you recon it should sort it self out when its back on the road in 2 weeks?? yer will keep and eye on it. yer i am defo the sump gasket has gone and its a 1.4 16v with 82.000 on the clock

Oh won't be timing chain rattling then. Maybe water pump or something else, would get it looked at. If the water pump is knackered and it breaks then your cambelt will jump off and cause a hell of a lot more damage.

There is coolent coming out of the bottle form the looks of it so it could be htat but if that gone the engine will over heat wont it????

So it has a coolant leak too, i'd suggest you get it checked over. Yes if you run it with no cooland this will cause it to over heat and cause problems.

its not a coolent leak as such it just runs down from the scrow on cap i carnt titen it any more but it still comes out
dont they all hav coolent tanks???

ye my 8v sri rattles like feck first thing in the mornin, think its one of the bearings in bottom end. but got an engine im gonna bang in after crimbo. bet u rag feck out of it? i give my 8v death everywhere i go!

not saying it is a bearing/oil pump fault, just thats whats on my car. u need a mechanic to diagnose the problem pal.
