... That is set up on Windows 2000 SP4 be made to run XP instead?
Windows 2000 looks so manky and I much prefer the look of XP!!
Also, I don't have the privileges to change the clock (  ) etc. Any way round that??
PS Its a Dell D620  Tis very nice!

you can format and re-install...
open the laptop and remove the small battery, leave for 30 mins and put it back. I think it will clear out the bios password. I think

There must be a reason for it being like it is if it's brand new, i dont know too much about it but i'm sure earlier versions of windows are considered more stable for business usage?
Your account must be limited as well just in case you install corrupt software or accidentally delete crucial files?

d620s come with xp installed from dell, we (as a company) revert back to win2k when they arrive, because of our bespoke software only being compatible with win2k.
it will run xp fine
edit: but if your company provided it with win2k, don't change it. you'll piss off IT

Would a skin do the job or are there not any decent ones out there?
Jus gay because it says oin the front vista compatible yet its running ugly old win 2k

yeah, very nice laptops - they'll run vista easily. Dunno about skins, but if you can't change the clock - I doubt you will be able to install a skin
