Today a new starter motor and idle switch was fitter my car. Yey! the car started, thats the first time in three weeks it's started. I'm happy.

But unfortunatly it still had the same problem it had before: It's really struggling to keep going. It seems to have "Throttle lagg" I can put my foot right down and it can take up to 10 seconds just to get reving. It's as if it's struggling to stay on.

It's like a hose when you turn it on. The water "splutters" out. This is basically exactly what the engine is doing.

So tomorrow we have decided to take it to a garage tomorrow. Lets hope it's open.

Anyone have any idea what it might be ?

May be not, only if it was logged in the ECU which is usually electronic/sensor faults etc - has the engine light come on at all?

Sorry for throwing you guys in at the deep end. Here is where it all started

Hello guys, I’m new to this forum and thought you guys could maybe help me out here.

It all started out when i was driving home from college one afternoon. I was on the motorway doing between 60-70 mph. The engine management light came on and suddenly the car started to decelerate. It got to around 50mph, then I took my foot off the accelerator. It seemed like the more I accelerated the slower the car actually went. I thought that I might have to pull over but I kept going. The engine light went off again and I managed to make it home.

So, I took the car to a garage. The plugged a computer into the car and it reported some faults. Apparently the Air Flow Meter was damaged. So I bought a new one and put it in. No difference, in fact it was worse! So off too another garage.

They used the same computer thing to try and find a fault. The Air Flow meter came up again. I was told that the new one I got must be faulty. So I sent that one back and got a replacement. Again there was no improvement. The car would start and if you didn’t rev it hard it would cut out. It was struggling to stay on.

So my dad had a look at it. He removed a hose and hold me to turn the engine on off on and off again. So I did, it started to smoke a little – which obviously isn’t a good sign. He put the hose back in and tried to start the engine. Nothing at all happened. The car engine doesn’t even start now!

I am waiting on the garages opening. I plan to take it to someone my family knows but as he is self employed he wont be back to work until after the New Year.

The car has been off the road now for around 3 weeks and it is so frustrating!

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this.

My apologies for the long post.

Thanks guys.

Its not really gonna help much asking people whats wrong with it because it could be a number of different things. Take it to a local garage and ge tthem to plug it in and tell u what the fault codes are saying.
