Is it legal to temporarily fix your number plate in your rear window? Mesh and LED for number plate lights not yet done and we have fixed his plate in the window until we can get it fastened back on properly.
Thing is, he (Jay) has his test in his car errrr very soon and I want to make sure the examiner won't stop the test because of it.

Not sure where you stand legally because of the light
EDIT: I had mine in my rear window for a few weeks with no problems but not sure about on a test

as long as its light correctly it "should" pass, isaac got the jag thru the mot with the plate in the window. but it wouldnt surprise me if they were funny about it

The "normal" stuff has been checked, extra mirror, seat belts, head restraints, valium (for examiner when he sees the car), insurance (updated for mods) MOT and everything else all available for inspection should they want to see it.
Now he just needs to get over last minute panics about parallel parking.
Keep your fingers crossed for him.

he'd be better off going in a standard car, as I think the examiner might be slightly biased with his opinion with him turning up in a modified car

Without the light, it wouldn't pass an MOT, so is technically unroadworthy I'd assume. I also wouldn't turn upto a driving test in a modified motor, but that's not a problem in itself.

you dont need headlights or rear lights for a daytime only mot do you?
just indicators an brakelights i presume..
as said though would have thought a normal car would look a lot better to the examiner tbh!

if you attatch the plate to the bumper somehow, the examiner won't even be suspicious.

LOL!!! What so if you have no headlights the police won't mind either??
Of course it needs a light, what happens if weather gets bad etc...
if you didnt have headlights and it wasnt dark they cant say much apart from get home before its dark
well its still reflective its not gona go that dark if the weather gets bad anyway

Dont talk utter crap mate... the police would have you for your car not being roadworthy..
Daytime MOT's are fair enough if thats what you have but you cant just take things off during the day and be fine..

This daytime MoT stuff is bollocks.
You can't go to an MoT station with no wipers and say 'it's not raining, so it's fine', and you can't go with no lights.
You NEED ALL the lights to work to get an MoT.
