My old Kodak camera is really starting to bug me now, crap battery life, Image quality is 'respectable' but not great, it suffers sooo badly in poorly lit atmospheres... So want something a tad better...
Old Kodak is a DX6340, 3.2MP Camera... Not too bad for the price I originally paid 3 years ago...
Now I wouldnt have a clue WHAT sort of SLR Camera to go for... I like doing action shots, still life, closeups, and also night shots where I can play with the exposure or something to get them to come out well enough (with the aid of a trusty tripod to keep the camera still)
Wondering if it would be worth getting something from eBay? Second hand or whatever... I know by doing that I dont get a warranty, or any guarentee it will last long, but I cant afford £500+ for a good one...
Cheers

Do you really need a DSLR? If not get yourself a Fuji F30 compact, it takes excellent low light pics and is only £150.
or a 2nd hand Canon 350d/Nikon D50 if you must get an DSLR.

Don't forget to budget for lenses if you want a DSLR.
If its to play about with and learn then you should probably get a good selection and sell the ones you find that you don't use.
When I had my D30 many years ago I had a 20-35mm 3.5-4.5, 28-135mm 4.5-5.6, sold those and replaced with a 16-35mm 2.8 and 50mm 1.8. Had a 70-200mm 2.8 IS for a while as well which would blow the budget but which is a lovely lovely lens. Almost renders the body unimportant, especially for the type of stuff I was doing which goes straight on the web, you don't need loads of megapixel.

I'm aware the lenses are what truly makes the camera perform, so will be looking for a kit with a good lense, and well, can buy more as I go along...
The D350 seems well, but I'm unsure, someone recommended the Nikon N200 is it?? But been looking on ebay, and there seems to be a good few deals, especially on the imports, for sub-£500
Also seeing the imports, its like there £300 but a regular UK auction is reaching £700+ easy for the same camera... would it be worth importing?? Already did that with my PSP, so I do know what I'm letting myself in for...

Well, after reading COUNTLESS reviews for the Canon EOS series of camera's, Nikon, Pentax, Sony... I got this
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=008&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=180074538720&rd=1&rd=1
Sony A100 Alpha 10.2P Camera
From reading reviews seems it is set to compete with the Canon 30D and does it quite well, has more features than the Nikon and Canon cameras at the same price, better overall starter lense...
Should prove interesting to see how I do with it!
