I'm currently doing a webdesign course at college, i went in knowing a fair ammount on webdesign and i'm now half way through the 1st year. I was just wondering if anyone knows if there are alot of job opportunities about for webdesign ?

Everybody and the dogs dog can do webdesign.
Unless you know some decent server side stuff (has been discussed on here before and I don't know much about it tbh) you won't be making much money from it.

About 2 years ago it was a very different story, you could make a mint for the crappest websites but things have developed quick and web design is alot more easier imo therefore your gonna have to deliver something fresh onto the scene to make yourself stand out

What do you mean by degree?
Proper uni's don't do degrees in things like webdesign so the above would still stand.

Yes they do, doing an HNC this year HND next year then a year at uni to finish it off ?

I would get into something like ASP.Net.
More opportunity/money in it

I think i may just be having second thoughts, ever since i got my car i have been wanting to do things to it. It's making me want to do a mechanics course or something along those lines

Be careful not to fall into that trap.
Web design is good, but like John said, everyones doing it, you need to find a niche in the market.

Yea i propably will keep going with web design. I guess i would like to do mechanics as a hobbie, if you know what i mean... Maybe do some night classes for something just too learn the basics

Yeah leave cars for a hobby imo. Id go into media production to broaden your opprtunities.
