I have a problem with my home computer. I have uprgraded to 8Mb broadband with BT but now i cant view any web pages. I've checked the lights on the modem and everything is correct. I have two arrows on the task bar that are both green and if i hover the mouse arrow over the connection symbol it says connected. When i open IE it doesnt display any web pages. Ive tried opening pages from my favourites but nothing happens. Spoke to some monkey at BT who wasted an hour of my time and still didnt fix it. They said its a problem with my PC. I'm totally lost so any suggestions will be welcome.
Thanks.

cheers for the replies fellas.
Topshot - i'm using IE7
Ian - I can't get on any pages at all
Steve - I'm slightly retarted when it comes to computers and i have no idea what a proxy setting is!
Brett - I'll check the LAN settings when i get home, what should be in there??
Allan - I'm using a BT Voyager 105 ADSL USB Modem which is not right according to the link you posted. The monkey at BT said it would work tho. I think i'll get them to send me a router. I have the firewall in IE turned off and am using Norton Internet Security instead.

Regarding the LAN settings it should have:
The use proxy server unticked
And the Auto Detect network settings needs ticking.
Steve some ISP need at least IE6 to run. I had to upgrade when i first got my boradband.

surely its the websites that check your browser version, not your isp, your isp merely provides the connection

Yeah the usb modem might work but they do not do well for speeds over 2mb hence the upgrade. Can you disable Norton Internet security for a couple of mins to see if that makes a difference?
