Have seen a decent looking Mk2 Golf GTi 8v next to where i am working, its a G reg, bodywork looks ok just needs a polish.
it has tax and still currently insured with the owner but has no MOT.
If i was to buy the car tomorrow would i be allowed to drive it home so i can take it to my local MOT station?
I have cover to drive other cars on my insurance.

You are only covered to actually drive to a MOT station.

Not gonna get points for driving round without an MOT, only a fine.
If your not bothered about that then drive it where you like!

nope. cuz it aint got insurance if no mot-and no insurance makes it illegal to drive about.
you will have to trailor the car to be safe.

Sorry, your wrong.
Stuff like this is my job and how I make a living, so I'll back myself to be right
I have NEVER seen anybody prosecuted for no insurance for not having an MOT. Thats ridiculous.
Who told you that? Did they also tell you if you haven't put your seatbelt on, then thats illegal, so also making no insurance ROFL

i am sure that you can drive an un-MOTed car to a pre booked MOT appointment.
although you are supposed to go to the closest MOT garage, just book an MOT near home, drive home then phone up and cancel the appointment

or book an MOT and actually get it tested. If it fails you know what needs doing.

fixed the front lights, was the connection on the back of the switch, need to get some brake light bulbs now. too much snow to drive the corsa down to halfords.
anyone got any decent pics of red mk2 golf gti's nicely modded?
first steps is to get some deep dish 16s and put it on its ass.
