Got to agree, Mclaren is a yes man, we need some one English with passion, Big Sam, stuart pearce, even if they arnt best tactically they show inspiration and a bit of fight!, grit and dtermination!
In regards to being a mid-week game etc, its Still playing for your country, getting a cap, what thousands of people dream about,an honour, hence they should run their tits off imo. Problem is club football has taken over National football, the prestige has gone as there is too much money involved in the club stakes.  Sad really.

i think its to do with the decrease in national pride through various things mainly how multi-cultural it is with transport of today, and the fact that 80% of the domestic players in the top league are foereign. I think a side should have at least 5 British players, obviously this would help loads to the international game, make it a bit more important. Should be same across all the major leagues.
