There is engine coolant out there that helps prevent over heating and obviously freezing - don't know how good it is though.

As the air is blown through the heater matrix it cools the engine coolant down resulting in cooling the engine down.

It will already have coolent in it. The engine wouldn't last very long with only water in it...

Might be worth renewing the coolent though

No, I know that. I saw something on the Halfords website that says "Prevents freezing in the winter and overheating in the summer".

Halfords Advanced Antifreeze 1 litre

All of them do this, its not specific to that product.

Changed the fan switch after work today and now my fan kicks in at about 97 degrees.
Also got new coolant in the system (GM red obv.)

BUT

im still going to wire in a switch so i can make it kick in early if i want.
