oh, symptoms are:
*backfireing
*flashing back up though TB
*sound like no compression on startup
*no idle at all
*misses at 4-5k rpm
sounds like timing out yeh?

Have you checked the outside crank pulley that the alternator belt comes off? Take it off and have a good look over it mate.I had these exact symptoms about 4 weeks ago and it was that causing it by "ripping" itself a new mounting hole!!

no. 2 teeth out is a bad idea. check the crank sensor is in place and the bracket hasnt been damaged, strip it all down and re-time it. if its still not right give it to a decent garage to set up for you.

yep, i re-timed it after i spoke to you earlier...still the same.
unfortunatly theres no garages in my area capable of doing it.
unless i had verniers + the correct timing discs
so tomorrow:
*im gona try advancing the EXH cam 1 tooth.
*if that doesnt work, also try retarding the INL' cam 1 tooth, hopefully this will get rid of the valve overlap

supposidly my map sensors picking up the fluctuations from the valve overlap...not so much the timing being out.
this'll be a bit scary altering the timing too much as i didnt have much clearance to satrt with...

wouldnt start playing with 1 tooth out bollocks, clerance is minimal with these cams, that could cause probs.
its unlikely to be map sensor either as valve overlap will be un-noticeable in the vaccum system.
its down to cam timing/fuelling

would like like to write up a detailed run through of what i should do to fix the fuelling/timing problem??...
checks etc?
so far;
ear test...sounds like no compression.
smell test... exhaust fumes smell flammable.

1. check timing once more
2. check compression
3. check A/F ratio on a RR
4. bin it and buy a 106 gti

i wouldnt move the timing on the standard pulleys at all, its a silly idea. time it up on the standard timing marks, what spec cams are they, sure they will run on standard injection system
