1080p rocks! Just need the price of the Blu-ray/HDDVD PC burners to drop a little before I invest.
I have to say after the recent price drop, it's pretty difficult to justify the extra money for the Sony W or X series (the main contenders when I was looking).
In all its glory:

Naw that's 40". It looks bigger in the flesh than any photo seems to make it look. It's around a metre wide in total.
My lounge is relatively big (sit around 3 metres from it) so I think it's a 'nice' size.
I saw a 46" in the shop and that was a bit imposing

Ah -- even that is only around the £1700 mark now
I was worried SD TV would look crap too, but I was pleasantly surprised. That might be the NVidia stuff doing some cool upscaling -- I'm not sure.

Yeah Freeview tuner in PC, with NVidia PureVideo decoder and drivers.
The 1080p demos I got off the net though are amazing.
I was tempted to get Sky HD, but as I'm likely to be moving in June (stopping paying stupid rent and actually buy) I thought I best wait to get it installed.

Um...
- Athlon X2 4600+
- 1Gb RAM
- 600Gb RAID5 volume (hence the need for the big case hehe)
- Geforce 6800
- Hauppauge Nova-T 500 (dual freeview tuner)
- Modem for caller ID
Sound goes straight to amp via optical cable so just using onboard Realtek HD device.
That's about it. Quite happy with performance now, although it'll be interesting when I get to try some actual Blu-ray/HDDVD disks.

im interested how the modem works for caller id?
Is it just a regular internal modem that recognises an incoming call and displays the number?

Yup just a normal modem (not set to answer or anything).
Media Center automatically displays the number on the bottom right of the screen whatever you're watching
If you set it up with Outlook to it'll search your contacts for the number and display the contact name and photo too (using 3rd party software called TapiRex )

May have to reinstall my modem on for that software - nice!
They have some other great MCE tools as well. I just need the TV now
