Has anyone noticed that the FA Cup is sponsored by E.ON this year? Has anyone else noticed that enblazened across our shirts this year is the brand name of... E.ON? hmmm...

so begins the corporate conspiracy.

We all know what these companies are like. They're all the same. Corporations are the face of capitalism, relentless in their pursuit of profits and growth at anyone's expense. Exploiting the poor and the natural resources of our vulnerable planet, corporations don't care what they do or who they destroy so long as the money keeps rolling in. They even have specialist departments dedicated soley to divising new money-raising schemes. Fat cats in their Armani suits, sexually harrassing their secretaries while plotting ever more unethical ways to take money from those gullible proletariat...

And so, the brains at E.ON conjured a cunning plan - a plan so devious, the morality of it was even questioned by the Chief Exec himself...

Just imagine: the club chosen by E.ON, winning the tournament chosen by E.ON. It would be the greatest marketing strategy in the history of capitalism!

After securing the sponsorship of both the world's greatest domestic cup competition and the world's greatest domestic football club, the stage was set...

E.ON has been diverting its high-voltage electricity away from the homes of its customers and straight into the boots of our players. Our super-charged strikers and electro-magnified midfielders have so far shocked all those meakly teams that have attempted to stand in our way. No mere mortal team can beat us this season in the FA Cup. We are a team of such power that Matt Richards alone could provide enough electricity to light up the streets of Watford for a thousand nights...

In 1978, we had Burley, Butcher, Osborne and Mills. In 2007, we have Gavin 'wattage' Williams, Jamie 'pylon' Peters, Owen 'generator' Garvan and Jason 'voltage' De Vos...

The FA Cup is as good as ours. Coz when E.ON say they provide the energy to the FA Cup, they ain't lying! Oh Yeah!
