What would be a good.. not over the top priced brake setup (under £300)

disks and pads.

think the calipers are pretty good as standard on these cars ?!?

go for the TT set-up 312mm on the front

would they slip under standard calipers ? or you mean get the whole thing from a TT ??

not sure mate but the standard set-up does not cost much - as most people upgrade from the TT set-up

fact that for under £300 it will be second hand calipers etc, something which i dont particually like taking a risk with

I don't see the problem with second hand calipers, as long as they're in good condition. Its the discs you don't want to use again!

i kept standard calipers, put ebc discs and green pads, stopped very well. Wouldnt put green pads on a chipped 1.8T though.

yes, but its allways diifcult to gauge how good a set are, you clean them up they "look" like new
