My mrs just had hers done and on return i looked at the receipt and there was a charge called

"Master Serv up to 50.00" which was on the receipt as £20 inc vat

She wasnt aware what this was so i rang the place and they said its to cover against accidental damage or puncture.

This sounded a bit dodgy and maybe something they should only ask if you want not automatically charge it, what do you think?

They do it because 99% of people won't even notice.

why... they said they'd refund it

It could be they did say 'Do you want X YZ' a lot of people will just say 'Yes' without asking.

Its not there fault if someone didnt ask them what it was AFTER they asked them if they wanted it.

Its wrong, but not trading standards wrong.
