Well its been a busy weekend with one thing and another but prepared my calibra yesterday ready for the new owner today.
So out came the engine.
Just to cheer me up damage looks a lot worse than expected i knew it had chucked a rod but wasnt expecting this.
Hole through where its chucked 1 and 2 rods.
Looking through the hole where number one is you can see its picked up on the crank so could have been oil starvation.

It also has a hole next to number 3

Things got slightly better today though when the new owner came and pointed out that my ecu was chipped and had switchable boost hence the little wire.
And then the calibra went off to its new and somewhat better home. By this time next week it should have a new engine in it running around 400bhp.
Anyway that was my weekend where cars are concerned

Well it was always my intention that I wouldnt be able to rebuild the engine for a while so there was no point in stripping it and it would just sit in the corner of the workshop for a while.
So first thing this morning i stripped one or two parts off
wiring loom
starter alternator gear linkage
distributor
inlet manifold
exhaust manifold and turbo
clutch and flywheel
and heres the engine
So got the head off and its fine just a couple of slightly bent valves
heres one of the big ends
So the engines not to bad was worried the head might be goosed but its fine. So just need to save now for one or two parts then start the rebuild!

I have a spare bottom end here dont know wether to bang it together and stick it in.
Or spend the year saving, replacing everything and then putting it in.
Trouble is with that where do you draw the line!
ATM i'm thinking oversize pistons, rod bolts and uprated oil pump for the bottom end. Then couple of valaves and basic clean up the head.
Head studs and bang it in!
But while its all apart should i look at head work etc??

thats the problem,
i was goin 2 get a turbo wen i melted a piston but fort i wud still have 2 rebuild the turbo and fort fuck it a rock hard c20xe it is
now i want a turbo lol

You should do the things now which you'd regret not doing in the future, when you fancy more power, like oil spray nozzles, headwork etc, build a strong engine now and you'll never need it out again

Whats the chances of metal fragments in the turbo? Prob quite slim i suppose.....

i'd have though very slim tbh. no head damage so nothing should have gone down exhaust. hopefully anyway.
