It's a Panasonic DMC-LZ1 (review/spec), I've had it for a few years now, and it's been great, takes good pics in the day, but at night, it's awful, everything gets stupidly noisy.
Can anyone recommend a good all round camera for about £300?
I've been looking at the Panasonic DMC-LX2 (review/spec), which seems far far better, but can anyone recommend anything similar to it?
From what I gather, it seems to have manual focus as well as auto and seems altoghether the better camera...
Any other camera ideas would be great though.

I think that would be too complicated for me, I get confused by lenses

Its not complicated, has an auto focus option. Playing with manual focus is fun. There are a few settings you have to get to grips with but thats all part of the fun.

I see, I'll keep an eye on that.
There's a couple of DMC-LX2s on there too, loads cheaper than the shops, so I'll watch them too

The best compact is the Fuji F30 by a mile.
