Gaz, trying to talk in 'their language' doesn't always work. My dad went up to the bar in a hotel once, said espresso coffee in Spanish. They looked at him odd, he said it again, they shrugged, he said and pointed at the small Izzy cup, and they said espresso in Spanish, in exactly the same way dad did
Anyway, back on subject, Dave was right to get rid of the time waster, in the polite-est possible way. Getting your corporate identity and corporate citizenship is right these days.
If Dave had actually wasted the Evo4 guys' name by giving the chav a lot of time. 1) He'd have been pretty pissed off 2) He wouldn't have liked his car to be associated with chavs 3) He probably has A LOT of friends in the car world that he would have worned off Vsport.
Now, he will tell his friends about the good service. When the service & rebuild is done to a good standard, tell his friends that.
Dave got it spot on in my opinion, and is on to an earner!
On a more serious note, when can I book my 12v in Dave?

Think 90% of the time it comes down to the actuall circumstances, and instinct tells you whether to bother wasting your time or not. If this bloke came in and serisouly thought he'd got an extra 35 brake off an exhaust and air filter, and questions that TB's are only going to get him an extra 15 brake, i know i'd just give up with the bloke because he's seriously ill-educated, and trying to put him right would more likely end in an argument, because he think's he's right .
I think it comes down to the point really that if people are serious about spending money on their car, the first thing you do is research into it and try and find what's available, and what kind of gains can be obtained. What this bloke said seemed as if he hadn't got a clue, hence wouldn't buy anything anyway. If he went away and researched into it a bit more, he'd realise what Dave said was true, hence, Dave's done nothing to tarnish his reputation towards the guy in future .

To be honest I wouldnt want to serve him, I wouldnt want my companies stickers on chavved up cars giving my company a bad rep, it wil put off more respectable clients and will ultimately lose business.
