Something along the lines of kent/piper 250s, on std pistons and management.
How does it run? as good idle as std etc?
Did they make any power/torque difference?
Or are they not worth it.

I wouldn't bother with a 250, standards are 244, so it's just not worth the effort.
If you're going to do it, go for a 264.
It'll still run as well, but the power curve will move up the rev range.

Ahh right, ok mate.
Cousin has a x16xe, std atm.
And was offered a cheap set of kent cams(£90 iirc), but there only 244deg duration.
No doubt they'll have more lift than std items tho.

Sorry, standard are 241deg with 8.45mm lift, the Kent (COR1601) ones are 244deg with 8.50mm lift, so not much in it tbh

Wont the 264's be lumpy on tick over?
But as Robn said, go for the 264's, any bigger and you'll need pocketed pistons

264s will be fine on tickover, 288s aren't lumpy, so 264s definitely aren't

I already have the 244 kents, got them cheap. Might flog them on and get some 264s then.

Pending how much it is to get your pistons pocketed? Get some 280's

Well, you could do
264s would be better though, with a remap preferably.

Lol, aye, i didn't think std management would like 280s much, lol.
Done a bit of asearching, and have read its pretty pointless having cams on std pistons/management.
So might just run std for now.

Apparently so.
Just gains maybe 3/4bhp at the top of the rev range, that rarely gets used on the road.

It all depends if you're using veriners, how well the cams are dialed in and how good the map is IMO. Dave gained 14bhp with cams on his X16.

Was that on the x16 inlet tho? Or TBs?
What cams were they

He gained 14bhp with cams and a map, with TBs IIRC, but it may have been with his Mantzel box
I wouldn't say it's 'not worth it' on standard management, every little helps, but you won't see the gains you would with TBs.
