I know you guys have had this b4 but what size are the LED's in the MFD. I've ordered 5mm. Is this right?

Thats the right size, but do you have the right value resistor and Osram holders to fit them into too?

Ah. I've not opened up the MFD yet but the 5mm
LED's come from maplins and i presumed that according to cobras guide it's just a straight swap. Obviously not then!

They are a straight swap if you buy the ready made "plug and play" type. You can't just buy any led and hope to fit them.
What exactly have you bought?

They sound like ordinary leds. 1.3 cd won't be nearly bright enought to light the mfd, your looking at 2200+ mcd.
This is what an led with resistor soldered on looks like..
This is an Osram bulb holder....
And this is the two assembled and ready to fit....
If you only want two blue ones for your mfd, contact me at cobra148@corsasport.co.uk and I might be able to help you out.

Cheers for that did. Could you blow the first pic up please. Did you solder the
resistor on? is that the original osram holder? and do you now have to solder that to your car or is that what you call plug and play? Oh and is 2 LED's of 2200+ mcd gonna be enough? Sorry but much needed advice.

I used a 1K Resistor - Worked fine, but LED are not bright enough and dont cover a wide area, so i used the original Osrams and put a piece of coloured plastic just behind the white screen that is behind the LCD display, works like a bomb and is way too easy.

What so instead of changing the bulb just put a piece of coloured plastic behind in front of the bulbs? sounds good.

yes, so you have the LCD| then a white piece of plastic|your favorite colour plastic(i used a folder divider). Then there is some space and then the bulbs.
Very easy.

A folder divider? And the prize for originality goes to you! Isn't that card board and a bit thick? I thought you would have used that film like tinted windows!
