when i start the car up i ahve a weird noise come from underf the bonnet. Its not everytime i start it up but very frequent, normally when it has been off for a while. it sounds like running water!!! anyone have any ideas of what it is

my old 1.2 corsa done this then the head gasket went on it.

My car does this too. How much is a head gasket?

The gasket is not much. It's the labour thats the killer.

Any ideas of roughly how much, so i no if i can still get stuff done to the car this month? Also my car seems to be lacking power (even though its a 1.2) wud this be the head gasket. Cheers for any help.

Your looking around £200 for a head off gasket change, skim (if needed) and re-assemble.

The car will be losing compression. Hence the lack of pooer.

i got told 400 quid for unbolting head, head gasket change, head skim and re-assemble

Thats a bit excessive. What engine is it? 8 vlave or 16?
