Cool, and how hard is it to do? I've basically got a bike frame and some local places can powder coat it but i'd need to strip it first and I can do that at a local auto salvage place where I can hire out a shot blaster... but i don't know anything about it?

simple description is, imaginea pressure washer but with sand!!! just work in small areas and work form one side of the bike to the other then do the other side!!

its easy we only had a small one, couldnt fit a bike frame in, but put it in and fire away basicaly

Would I need to avoid certain areas like the bottom bracket .etc or can I just blast it all

Yeah, I'd remove all components of course but the actual area where the bottom bracket goes for example should I not sand blast it or does it not matter?

They haven't got the facilities to ed, they just recommended a local auto salvage place where I can hire by the hour. I can get it blasted but its further afield and £30 for blasting, £25 for frame... local frame is £25 but I have to blast it myself.

where about it it sam, your house, there are loads of places not far away that will do the whol job, personally mask off everything you dont want coated in the sliver duct tape you can get, as the blasting car get through this usally

I know back home there are loads james but i'm at uni atm, so I'm working with Loughborough and if I want blasting done going to Leicester/Notts which is no biggy but if it is fairly easy to do I thought I could save a few quid and do it myself locally

Blast everything off clean. All it will do is take off stuff stuck to the metal. It wont take metal off. When you take it to them show them what you want masking off, or mask it off using normal masking tape for them. When I had mine done they powder coated a bit too close to the bottom bracket thread so I took it to a bike shop and they ran a tap through it just to clean it out...

Yea, I wouldn't go to hardcore on any threads if it's aluminium though. Or steel for that matter. Plus you don't need to do the threads as they aren't being coated.
