around our way the roads i bieleve are good and if i notice a pot hole of any shape it is usally sorted within a month usually less

The only problem we have is flooding when it rains really heavily. But it dries outin half a day. I think it's just because there are so many trees and the drains get blocked quickly, however it's not as bad as it used to be cos they have been worked on recently.. There's one pot hole that I can think of, but they keep filling it in.
The thing is though, where you have roads, you will have pot holes. Especially in a country where the weather changes so freequently. You can't expect everything to be perfect.

because he's saving the world by riding a bike and it would be very bad publicity if the council refused payout to someone whos doing their bit for the environment.

same reason how people can claim if they break there leg tripping over loose surfaces just on foot

I have never personally been to Germany, but I hear their roads are pretty much perfect, and they have a changing climate like ours?

thing is ed, i dont expect perfect surfaces, but 10 inch deep potholes are not on, and if the councils cannot afford to fill them then they have to expect claims, and be prepared to pay out, not live off the "oh we dont deem that pothole dangerous enough" to payout stance
