im not very up on the internals/workings of a pc or laptop for that matter, with ram can i just plug it in? and that makes it run faster? do i have to re-install the OS again? making it so it stores more stuff

do you need to increase performance of the laptop or just increase the disk storage space?

cheers, another question it says that it has a max of 512mb, so i can only have a combination of 512mb or 2no 512mb cards?

512Mb in total, ie. 2 x 256Mb etc.

Depends what slots it has. crucial.com site is very good and should tell you what is installed and what you can buy.
