get your dial up numbers/passwords for you ISP and outlook email settings.

Dont worry about your applications you should have them all on disk.

all your DATA, office documents/mp3`s/pictures porn

You may want to get some Internet explorer settings like cookies/favourites etc. If you are using windows XP these are under documents and settings/ your user account, just copy the cookies and favourites folders then copy them back once you reinstall.

yeah but if you are a novice user then ghost is fiddly to use. it only supports IDE/SCSI cd writers so you need to be on a network or have another Hard drive to either clone it onto or create an image.

loudcorsa you got a CD writer and some decent burning software, i know nero lets you back up your hardrive but you need millions of cd`s lol

ghosting is crap and can cause problems, do it all manually is the best way, little more time consuming but ensures proper installations of things

way i used to do it, make a system disk (presuming your not runnin win2k or xp), copy attrib.com, smartdrv.exe and deltree.com from the WINDOWS\COMMAND directory to the floppy.
Then in windows move all the data you wana keep to a new folder in C called backup.
Then once youre sure you got everythin, boot ur pc from the floppy, and do somethin like this
a:\smartdrv
path a:
c:
cd \
attrib -h -r -s *.*
deltree windows
deltree progra~1
deltree mydocu~1
and so on till all is left is the backup folder which contains all u got! (just dont deltree backup)
then re-install windows, dont format the drive though!! everything will be cleaned out, your backup will be on the hdd, and you can go about sortin ur machine!

u got a cd burner??? zip the lot up & burn it!!
address book and alot of other things like outlook .pst files are located at
c:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\
You may need to change the folder options to view hidden & system files.
