The Daily Mirror claim England keeper Ben Foster is set to replace Edwin van der Sar as United's No.1 next season after Sir Alex Ferguson's patience with the erratic Dutchman finally snapped at Wembley. It is understood United's players blamed Van der Sar for hesitating in coming off his line to challenge Didier Drogba for the extra-time goal which gave Chelsea victory.

According to that its the players not the fans that blamed him.

Marc its from the Mirror though...so its probably bullshit anyway...
If anyone is to blame its Rio...or Giggs for missing that sitter (even though he was fouled)...

If he does get dropped it will be a culmination of a seasons poor form, not because he's deemed to have made 1 mistake, which imo wasn't his fault.
I think by the noises coming from Old Trafford Foster was always in line for the number one jersey next season.

heard this ages ago but didn't think it was true because he was watford keeper
sometimes van der sar can be excellent and then he has the odd or few off games where he is a complete ponce IMO.
still, the defenders should have reacted and read the situation faster at wembley. it's called a team for a reason and theres no I in team

It was coming anyway, he has been a bit dodgey this season. If Man Utd buy Craig Gordon (doubt it though), either him or Foster will be an excellent Number 1.

I think he should stay for one more season TBH and i still rate him better than Foster & Kuscak(sp), He is the best we have had since schmeichel and i forsee the same goalie problems we suffered since schmeichel left in 99 happening when VDS Leaves unfortunatly

First part of the season Van der Sar was brilliant. He may have suffered a dip in form but ask Rooney about that there were never calls for him to be axed. Imo Foster would benefit from another season on loan. No disrespect to Watford but possibly with a bigger club where expectations are greater to prepare him for United.

Buffon is set to leave Juve, hopefully he'll be heading for the black and blue half of Milan though
