I got a ps3 yesterday and am yet to set it up as my tele has got to be put up on my wall. I have a samsung lcd and i just wondered will i need a hdmi cable. I dont even know what one is, but for some reason i think i need one? Or will the cabels in the box be ok for it to work?

IIRC everyone was moaning about the price of the PS3 and the fact that didnt evn include the cable, so yes im guessing you need to buy it

you can use the scart lead that comes with the PS3 but it won't look anywhere near as good as the HDMI, worth paying the extra for IMO
ps it should have come with one really but c'est la vie

You should be able to pick one up for around £5 which will do the job perfectly

im not sure a £5 one will be much cop, but then i dont know much about hdmi cables, i guess you pay for what you get

A £5 HDMI cable will be as good as a £50 HDMI cable as long as you are not going over long distances.
HDMI is all digital so it either works or it doesn't. If it works it will work so spending £50 more on a branded cable will not gain you anything.
Analogue cables the quality of the cable can have a major effect. Digital it has much much less
