Been thinking about this long and hard of late about why this team just can not perform with argueably one of the best in the world all round (on paper anyway which i know counts for nothing of course)

Do you think the "pride" in playing for England has been lost?
Do you think the players schudles are to hectic (taking into consideration endorsement obligations and so on + plus all games)?

I think the thing is - with a vast amount of world class players playing in Europe, the top clubs in those countries (where most top international players play) wont just play agaiast each other in the odd international, its every week, which no doubt is good for league football but do you think it has taken away the "wow" factor for the players?

I know all football fans and probably players alike feel nervous and want to play at the biggest stadia. But do these internationals just feel like "another game" to the team.

Thoughts?

Some big players are too comfortable in the knowledge they will get picked no matter what.

Spot on.

There is also no incentive anymore.

Playing for your country used to be the ultimate homour. But when you get fringe club players earning £20k+ per week they just don't give a fuck. Wether they play for England or not, they are still going to be Millionaires.

decent young players are overlooked in favour of older, overpaid players that get in every game even though they played shit. For example having the most shots at the world cup and failing to score.

They've been paid for playing for England since the Ian Wright days.

Infact....at the time, he was the only member of the squad not to claim the money because he said it was an honour to play for his country.

Need a manager that can make the big decisions and the right ones, Lampard and Gerrard in the centre doesn't work, it's a straight decision one or the other. Dropping Beckham also backfired, he gained nothing from it other than running back to him with his tail between his legs.
