I ahv a corsa B and when its first started up it sounds like summits amiss but when she is warm its sounds like a cat purring away ready for action

A lot of corsa engines do this ticking. It's the valve rockers I think.

Extreme cold weather!!! HA HA! Corsas in other countries are well capable of surviving in -20! It certainly dont get that cold here mate!
