I've just bought a 2ltr 8v from a mate for £100 including the mount from a corsa and everything else i need including box etc. is the 8valve engine quick or not i dont want it to be to fast just nippy will it be a big diffrencve from my 1.2 haha

Will be a major difference, decent enough engine. Nice and reliable too.

you can get a good 150bhp from the 8v reliably,
some are 115 std or 130
its the torque is what the 8v is good at

we aren't sure what model engine it is how would i find out probs just the 115 model i think

Engine number is to the right of the engine near the dipstick on a plate.
Just below the top part of the manifold
trust me theyre awesome. great power delivery.
If its an NE you've got 115bhp
SE - 120ish
SER-130
All of them are good and yeh you can get all 3 to around 150 easy. SEH even more 
Mate had a throttle bodied SEH with all the works running 180
edit - there was a thread in projects of a foreign guy with one with a turbo conversion in his corsa

theyre not shit at all mate.
i know plenty of NE nova's that dog a LOT of cars.
edit - and theyre actually 113 - 115 but most turn out to be 115

if your going to fit the ne, i'd personally got for a small block 1.6, will be just as quick due to less weight,
