just had the top end rebuilt after my cam belt slipped but its starting to smoke alot and wasnt doing it before the rebuild, any ideas what it could be,,,,,,

Did you put new valve stem oil seals in? Also when you ground the valves in some grinding paste may have got stuck on the stem and worn the guide.

its a fully rebuilt head ie valves, guides, lifters , re seated and skimmed, iv had it bk for 2 weaks and its started smoking really bad the past few days

mine smokes i put it down to high milage. all xe's smoke, normally when power is on and off. eg changing gear, or hitting the limiter, i wouldnt worry too much tbh. prob just a little oil geting past the rings

iv took it really easy and it only done 84000 miles which is low for a gsi,

mines done less than that and mine smokes. everyone i know that has had a petrol ecotec style engine, its smoked.

prob a split valve seal
how mad is the smoke? all the time of when you boot it?

Do a compression test to see if rings are on way out BUT can not see it.....

got fed up so im half way from having the bottom end fully rebuilt, so its now had a full rebuild, should run sweet as a nut

mine only smokes on cold (decat) but when warmed up doesnt! *confussed*
