Bought myself a '95 Corsa Merit a week ago. Going to start working on it next week but need some answers and advice first!

I've got myself a jvc headunit and infinity 6x9 100w rms speakers so far. But realised that the head unit only outputs 18w peak power x 4.

I want to get rid of the door speakers. Had a quick look at them and does anyone know whether you can just take them out by removing the bottom panel? If not can someone explain how to get the top panel out (manual windows btw)

I also want to get an amp to get the most out of my speakers. So would it be best to get a 4-channel one to power my door speakers and my 6x9's? Or use the power from the headunit for my door speakers? Also is it worth getting a sub or will the 6x9s do the trick?

Finally, whats the easiest way to wire the amp (dont really want the wires showing and dont really want to take the whole interior apart)

Help would be much appreciated.

Cheers!

hi, to start off if you have 6x9s dont bother with the sub as you wont hear them and they will distort, also dont bother amping them as they sound shite,

you are best off getting a decent set of components up front and a sub in the rear,

the best way to run cables is to find a grommet in the front of the car which allows access into the car fro the engine bay and run the cables under the carpet,

what is your budget on subs amps??

So its best not to amp them then? Won't i get queit crap sound from the stereo as the rms is only 18w.

I don't want to spend too much but i just want decent loud sound and not over the top with bass.

So is it best just to scrap the 6x9s? Paid £30 for the head unit and speakers so I don't really care.

Anyone else have a say in this?

get what you pay for with an amp! quality = £ unfortunately.

can't go wrong with infinities, i've got 2x 6.5" woofers from a comp set in boxes amped in my boot, the tweeters in the door handles, some infinity 13cm in the front.

also... worth buying some soundproofing material, otherwise you get rattles and shit through the door, soundproofing was one of my best ICE investments.

and yeah, you can change front speakers without taking panel off, need adaptors though.

Right.

So is the amp worth getting? I could probably spend up to £100 maybe a bit more on the components AND amp. I don't really want perfect sound. Recommendations? Ive done a search in the forums but they all seem to be old products.

Also where do you get this soundproofing materail from then?

Cheers everyone (Y)
