i know im only on poverty spec net by havin dial up but i thought coz it a 56k i presumed it should download at that speed?
am i wrong and why my laptop only downloadin that speed?
and yes i will be gettin broadband in the near future

No thats about right.
The modem speed is measured differently to the download one.

how would i go about gettin wireless broadband on my laptop...what do i need etc?
any help would be great

You just need to phone a supplier like Pipex or BT and ask them for wireless broadband. They will send you everything you need which is proably the best thing to do if you don't quite know what you are doing.
Basically you need a wireless modem, which ought to come with some form of wireless network reciever, usually a USB device. You need that if you don't already have a WiFi enabled laptop. You then just need the actual connection from a service provider
